Security Architecture Skills Assessment

Assessment - 60 questions

Security Architecture - The Essentials

Course - 00:44:00

This course will examine security architecture as a strategic discipline that supports and enables the achievement of business objectives. Students will be introduced to the security architect as a visionary for security and security design principles — the north star that guides security decisions.
Enterprise Architecture Frameworks

Course - 00:53:00

In this course, we will look at popular enterprise architecture frameworks with a focus on how security architecture can be integrated into these frameworks to secure critical business processes and information. We will introduce The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Zachman's Enterprise Architecture Framework and the Sherwood Applied Business Security Architecture (SABSA).
Security Architecture Development Process

Course - 00:37:00

In this course, we will introduce a seven-step, business- and risk-driven process to develop security architectures. Among other things, we will examine business requirements as the drivers for security, data classification to understand the value of business information, security requirements to address prioritized information risks and architectural issues and risks which should inform future security budgeting and roadmap decisions.
Threat Modeling

Course - 00:56:00

In this course, we will introduce students to threat modeling and examine four popular threat modeling methodologies: Microsoft STRIDE, the Process for Attack Simulation and Threat Analysis, the Operationally Critical Threat Assessment and Vulnerability Evaluation, and Trike. We will also explore the importance of incorporating threat modeling into the security architecture development process.
Designing for Security

Course - 00:38:00

In this course, we will introduce students to security design patterns and reference security architectures as reusable solutions to solve reoccurring information security problems. We will walk through several practical examples of security patterns and reference security architectures to enable to students to gain hands-on knowledge.
Case Study

Course - 00:55:00

In this course, we will develop a business- and risk-driven security architecture using the seven-step process introduced in course 3. Students will use threat modeling techniques to enumerate and prioritize cyberthreats and assess the associated information risks. Students will then create security requirements that address the highest priority risks while supporting business requirements and objectives.
Summary and Conclusion

Course - 00:14:00

In this course, we will summarize everything we've covered in the learning path and provide final words of wisdom for anyone interested in starting or continuing a career as a security architect.
